I was disappointed in the dealership’s decision/policy to apply an exterior clear coat protectant to their new vehicles. This increased the price of the vehicle I purchased $895. I was advised by our sales consultant the clear coat protectant had already been applied and this specific charge was nonnegotiable. I have purchased vehicles from numerous dealerships over the years and this is the first time I have ever encountered this situation. In all my other new vehicle purchases the dealership provided me with the option to purchase this type of exterior clear coat protection. I was also surprised to find out and was unaware I had purchased a Volkswagen Care PrePaid Scheduled Maintenance Plan (3 years/30,000 miles) for $295. I was made aware of this purchase when I received an email from Volkswagen a day after buying the vehicle. During conversations with our sales consultant we were advised 2 years/20,000 miles scheduled maintenance was included with a new vehicle purchase, but the 3 year Prepaid Scheduled Maintenance Plan was never mentioned. I have since reviewed the vehicle’s window sticker more closely and noticed the additional charge for the 3 year Prepaid Scheduled Maintenance Plan under “Packages and Options”. While this charge is on the window sticker I still feel this should have been mentioned when we were discussing included scheduled maintenance with our sales consultant. Overall, we had a pleasant experience with the dealership. Our sales consultant promptly returned my calls throughout the buying experience and was easy to work with.
