Blue 2023 Volkswagen Toas

The Taos is the Volkswagen entry in the subcompact SUV range. It combines Volkswagen’s fuel efficiency and streamlined design with impressive performance and interior and cargo space. If you’re looking for an SUV that offers a compact body and robust interior space, the 2023 VW Taos is a perfect choice. This is a brief guide to some of its important features.

Engine and Transmission

The Taos is powered by Volkswagen’s new 1.5-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine. This engine provides an impressive 158hp and 184lbs of torque, and it’s paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The standard drivetrain is a front-wheel drive, but you have the option of an all-wheel drive. The all-wheel drive also has an 8-speed automatic transmission, but with dual clutches installed.

Fuel Economy

VWs are known for their fuel efficiency, and the Taos is notably fuel efficient. The front-wheel drive model boasts 28MPG in the city and 36MPG on the highway, while the all-wheel drive option is 24MPG in the city and 32MPG on the highway.

Interior

The interior is understated, with fine two-tone cloth upholstery and a fully digital gauge cluster on the dash. You have the option to upgrade to leatherette or full leather upholstery. The interior is designed with plenty of leg and headroom and a 6.5″ touchscreen comes standard.

Optional features include dual-zone climate control, heated and ventilated seats, a heated steering wheel, an 8-way powered driver’s seat, and customized ambient lighting. In addition, you can upgrade the touchscreen to an 8″ model and add wireless charging, multiple USB ports, AppleCarplay, and Android Auto.

Cargo Capacity

Cargo space can be limited in a subcompact SUV but not in a VW Taos. With all seats up, you have seating for five people and 27.9 cubic feet of storage space. If you fold down the rear seats, increase this to over 65.9 cubic feet of space. The all-wheel drive Taos only slightly reduces this carrying capacity to 60.2 cubic feet.

Safety

Keeping you and your car safe is essential, and the Taos has a variety of safety information systems installed. Forward collision warning, blind spot monitoring, rear traffic alert, and pedestrian detection with automatic braking are standard on all models.

The Volkswagen IQ.Drive driver-assist technology is also standard and ensures hands-on semi-automated driving capability. This technology provides lane-centering assist, lane-keeping assist, and adaptive cruise control.

Trim Levels

There are three trim levels, the standard S, the SE, and the SEL. The SE and SEL add additional features depending on your driving needs.
