A blue Volkswagen Tiguan driving down a city street

The 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan is a midsize crossover SUV that’s a great choice for a used car purchase. It was available in five trims, with nine variations within those trims. Here are the top features of each trim to help you in finding out which used Tiguan trim will suit your needs.

Tiguan S

The S trim came in either 2.0T S FWD or 2.0T S 4MOTION. Standard features include a 6.5-inch touch screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, a USB port, and an integrated Wi-Fi hot spot. The Tiguan S also has seating for seven, with three rows offering flexible configurations for more cargo room. You get forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking and pedestrian detection. Rounding out standard safety features are a rearview camera and blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert.

The 2.04 S 4MOTION’s main difference is the all-wheel drive, making it better at tackling changing conditions, on and off-road, and handling inclement weather. The 4MOTION optimizes traction and stability by distributing power between the front and rear wheels. There were four all-wheel-drive modes to meet the challenges of different driving conditions. The 4MOTION modes are Snow, On-Road, Off-Road, and Off-Road Custom.

Tiguan SE

For a more luxurious driving experience, the VW Tiguan SE trim was offered in 2.0T SE FWD and 2.0T SE 4MOTION. This trim added adaptive cruise control and a bumped-up infotainment system with a larger 8-inch touch screen, wireless app connect, two more USB ports, SiriusXM satellite radio, and HD Radio. Additional exterior features include proximity keyless entry, push-button start, and a panoramic sunroof option. Inside the cabin, upgrades include heated front seats and V-Tex leatherette seating surfaces. Other premium additions are a power-adjustable driver’s seat and dual-zone automatic climate control.

Tiguan SE R-Line

If you’re seeking a sportier style, the VW Tiguan SE R-Line trim may be something to look for. It was offered in 2.0T SE R-Line Black FWD and 2.0T SE R-Line Black 4MOTION. The SE R-Line featured exterior and interior R-Line design, including the R-Line design grille, bumpers, side sills, intakes, badging, exterior trim, and body-color lower cladding. Additional driver-assist features include front and rear park distance control. The SE R-Line 4MOTION was only available in all-wheel-drive.

Tiguan SEL

If you’re looking for a bit more of a bold style, the VW Tiguan SEL trim came in 2.0T SEL FWD and 2.0T SEL 4MOTION. On this trim, you get VW Digital Cockpit, an 8-inch touch-screen navigation system, and remote start. The 2.0T SEL 4MOTION substitutes the FWD for all-wheel-drive.

Tiguan SEL Premium R-Line 4MOTION

If you’re seeking luxury, you won’t be disappointed in the VW Tiguan SEL Premium R-Line 4MOTION. An array of features were added, such as a Fender premium audio system, the exterior R-Line design, and a power passenger seat. The interior is outfitted with Vienna leather seating surfaces and a heated leather-wrapped steering wheel with an R-Line badge.
