The rotary dial lets you switch between four available all-wheel drive modes in the Atlas to suit changing road conditions. The four driving modes are Snow, On-Road, Off-Road, and Off-Road Custom. These drive modes ensure you are never unprepared for sudden weather changes.
Power and Performance
The ’23 VW Atlas hits the streets with two available powertrain options. The first option is a 2.0L turbocharged V6 engine that delivers 235 horsepower with 258 pounds per foot of maximum torque. The second powertrain available is the larger 3.6L V6 which pumps out an incredible 276 horsepower with 266 pounds per foot of maximum torque. These engines are matched to a silky automatic 8-speed Tiptronic transmission.
Upgrades in 2023
The ’23 Atlas has received a few changes this year. First, the trim levels have been simplified, so finding the model you want is easy. The SE is now the base model because the Atlas S is no longer offered. Additionally, VW has included their 10.25-inch instrument cluster, the digital cockpit pro, as standard equipment on every trim above the SE.
Comfort and Cargo
The interior of the ’23 VW Atlas is family-friendly with a straightforward layout. There are cupholders everywhere, so you don’t have to worry about kids trying to balance sodas and spilling them all over the floor. The interior design is modern and uncomplicated, with a spacious cabin that can accommodate just about anything you throw at it. Storage nooks are spread throughout the cabin to stash smaller items.
The Atlas has excellent storage space behind the back seats. However, if you are looking to haul bigger items, you can lay the split-folding rear seats down.
