April Is National Car Care Month at Volkswagen Mobile

To celebrate National Car Care Month, we’re providing you with some simple tips for Volkswagen car care. Continue reading to learn more about how you can keep your car running smoothly this spring.

Spring Maintenance Tips

Pay Careful Attention to Lights and Wipers

Salt can be a lifesaving resource on icy winter roads, but headlights can grow dim from the grime and salt that builds up over time. Use a specialized cleaner to scrub them back to their original shine. Inspect for any bulbs that need to be replaced so that you can adequately see the road ahead.

Speaking of spring showers, April is also the perfect time to clean or replace your windshield wipers. Be sure to top off your washer fluid as well so you can be prepared for the sudden onset of spring pollen. If it’s time to replace your lights or windshield wipers, we offer a number of Volkswagen parts and can get you safely back on the road in no time.

Check Oils, Filters, and Fluids

The check engine light should not be the reminder you need to check or change your oil. Oil acts as a lubricant to keep the machinery in the engine running smoothly. Inadequate levels of oil will cause metal-to-metal contact which will damage your engine beyond repair. Dirty oil that appears dark or gritty can also cause damage. Schedule an oil change at our Volkswagen service center so that we can give your engine the care and attention it needs to prevent further damage.

Oil is not the only fluid you’ll want to consider on your next tune-up. Ask your technician to check transmission, coolant, power steering, and brake fluids as well.

Inspect Your Wheels, Tires, and Brakes

Damage from the daily wear and tear of your tires can go undetected until a sudden problem arises. Take a good look at your tires. How is the tread looking? Are the tires properly inflated? When was the last time you had your tires rotated or your wheels aligned? If you can’t remember then it’s time to schedule service. Doing so will extend the life of your tires and your car.

Brakes are your first and primary safety feature. If not working properly, no technology or Driver-Assistance feature can help you mitigate or avoid a collision. Check or replace your brakes and rotors to keep your passengers and other drivers safe on the road.
